四国高知は四万十市のハンコ屋小谷印判店です。
8月9日の金曜日に開催しましたスプーン作りワークショップの報告です。
今回はご婦人三名のご参加で、朝10時に開始し、終わったのは五時半でした。
当初は場所を前回と同じ四万十川河川敷の林で計画していました。
そこは良く風が通って涼しく、虫もいなくて丁度良いのです。ですが生憎前日からの台風の雨が降り続き、屋外は無理だと判断して近所の産直市場『いちじょこさん市場』に変更して開催しました。
場所の雰囲気は河川敷に劣るものの、やはり冷房がある室内は助かります。外は大雨が降ったり止んだりで湿度も猛烈に高かったのですが作業は涼しく快適でした。
参加されたお三人さんの内、一人は前回ご参加頂いた方、もう二人は小刀の扱いに慣れたものづくりの好きな方で安全に楽しく進みました。
毎回そうですが、皆さん手斧を見ると目が輝きますね。普段使わない道具を使える楽しさと、手斧の造形美に心引かれるようです。
皆さん黙々と木をハツリ、ケズリしながら途中で昼食とお茶休憩を挟んで、形が出来たのが四時ごろ。残りの一時間でじっくり仕上げ削りです。
ナイフの後を残してワイルド仕上げにするか、紙やすりで磨き込んでツルツルにするかは皆さん次第。でも、ヤスリでは形を整えることは出来ても作り替えることは出来ないので、いずれにしてもナイフで殆ど仕上げてないといけません。
そんなこんなで、今回のワークショップでも素敵なスプーンが生まれました。
きっと皆さんの食卓の彩になるでしょう。

This is a report on the spoon-making workshop we held on August 9, 2022.
We started at 10:00 a.m. and finished at around 5:30 p.m. Three ladies attended the workshop.
At first, we planned to have the workshop at the same place as the previous one, a wooded area along the banks of the Shimanto River.
It was cool and breezy, and there were no insects. Unfortunately, the typhoon rain continued from the day before, and we decided that it was impossible to hold the event outdoors, so we changed the location to a nearby market called “Ichijokosan Market”.
Although the atmosphere of the place was inferior to that of the riverside, it was still nice to be indoors where there was air conditioning. Outside, it was raining heavily and the humidity was extremely high, but the work was cool and comfortable.
Of the three participants, one was a previous attendee and the other two were experienced craftsmen who were familiar with the small knife.
As is the case every time, everyone’s eyes lit up when they saw the hatchet. They seemed to be attracted by the pleasure of using a tool they do not usually use and by the beauty of the hatchet’s form.
We hardly talked during the work, and everyone spent a few hours silently hacking and scraping the wood. After a break for lunch and tea, the wood was almost completely finished by around 4:00 p.m., and the remaining hour was spent carefully sharpening the wood.
It was up to each of us to decide whether we wanted to leave a wild finish with knife marks or polish it with sandpaper to make it smooth and smooth. But since a file can shape the shape, but not reshape it, most of the work must be done with a knife in any case.
And so, once again, a beautiful spoon was born.
They will surely add color to your dining table.

8월 9일 금요일에 수저만들기 워크숍을 했기 때문에 보고입니다.
이번에는 부인 세 분이 참가하여 아침 10시에 시작하여 끝난 것은 5시 반경이었습니다.
처음에는 장소를 이전과 같은 시만토 강 하천 부지의 숲으로 계획하고 있었습니다.
그곳은 바람이 잘 통하고 시원하며 벌레도 없어 딱 좋습니다. 하지만 전날부터 태풍비가 계속 내려 야외는 무리라고 판단하여 인근 산직시장 ‘일정시장’으로 변경하여 개최하였습니다.
장소의 분위기는 하천 부지에 뒤떨어지지만 역시 냉방이 있는 실내는 도움이 됩니다.밖은 폭우가 오락가락하고 습도도 맹렬히 높았지만 작업은 시원하고 쾌적했습니다.
참가하신 세 분 중 한 분은 전번에 참가해주신 분, 또 두 분은 손칼 취급에 익숙한 제조를 좋아하는 분으로, 바로 이해해 주셔서 이야기가 빠르고 편하게 진행되었습니다.
매번 그렇지만 여러분 손도끼를 보면 눈이 빛나요.평소에 사용하지 않는 도구를 사용할 수 있는 재미와 손도끼 조형미에 마음이 끌리는 것 같습니다.
작업중 거의 드릴 말씀도 없이 여러분 묵묵히 나무를 박박 깨물며 몇 시간. 중간중심과 차휴식을 사이에 두고 네 시가 넘었을 무렵에는 거의 모양이 만들어졌고 나머지 한 시간은 차분히 마무리 깎습니다.
칼의 뒤를 남기고 와일드 마무리를 할지, 사포로 갈고 닦아서 반들반들하게 할지는 여러분에게 달려 있습니다. 하지만 줄로는 모양을 다듬을 수는 있어도 바꿀 수는 없기 때문에, 어쨌든 칼로 거의 마무리하지 않으면 안됩니다.
이런저런 이유로 이번에도 멋진 스푼이 탄생했습니다.
분명 여러분의 식탁의 채색이 될 것입니다.
